more sickness...

So Nicholas is MUCH better and now Robin is sick! She munched on dry Cheerios and Ginger ale all morning....between naps!

Spirit week at school: today was “Tacky Day’ for Nicholas. Yep…toe-socks and flip flops on the feet.

Making thesis revisions, working on a group paper on the lifecycle of newspaper, and need to get going on the book layout for the design competition. Not to mention job hunting!!!

Have a great day!

What a weekend!

Rob went to Alabama for a conference (2nd weekend in a row), and mom came to visit. It snowed ALL weekend! We ate at CiCi’s, ran all over the mall, went to Chick-Fil-A (with the only indoor playground in Boone), went to the doctor, and Wal-Mart....met Laurel, Matt, Joe and other campus friends, fed the ducks, had snow ball fights, discovered impetigo (poor Nicholas), spent Saturday evening throwing up (poor Nicholas again!), scrubbed carpet and couch cushions, fed the birds, washed a bunch of laundry, caught a water bug, and went to Sasha’s 5th birthday party. I only have a few photos…

Fun times at CiCi's !

Feeding the ducks on campus!
This one is not as friendly as it appears. It went straight for the bread all the time. Robin began throwing whole slices AT it, as she squealed!
Onlya few minutes later!!! (notice Momma El doesn't have a hat!)
...so we made her one!
...ahhh!!! Warmth!!!!

D...D...D...De-fence!

My thesis defense is tomorrow at noon and I am scrambling for a few more ounces of motivation. That is one sure drawback to doing a thesis is the burn out and the lack of interest. But…this is one small step toward the end result…GRADUATION!

After this I still have a full agenda. Lots of work at the Energy Center and complete my GA hours for the semester; a group project in tec and culture on the lifecycle of newsprint (amazing what people use old newspapers for!); design a hardback book (contents and cover) for my design team by mid April; make graduation announcements; find a job and a place to live; and watch my children grow up before I miss it!

Just a note: Our friends Erin and Nathan lost their baby. In an effort to bring healing into their life, we bought them a holly tree. An evergreen symbolic of that precious life. When we delivered it they let us help them plant it then we stayed over for dinner. Later that night, Nicholas said to me “Mommy, I bet Nathan and Erin would rather have their baby than that tree we gave them”. The extremely tender heart of my rambunctious 5 year old.

Student of the week

There is so much to talk about. I still have not posted some winter pictures. BUT…this is most important. Nicholas is student of the week at his school!!! We are all so proud of him. He got to chose a pencil or a free meal at CiCi’s. Holy cow! What do you think he chose?!?!?!?!We had a wonderful weekend playing at the park and going for walks. Here are some pictures!

I had tonsillitis and had to turn it in a few days late.

Florida and back

To catch you up on a week or so of my life.

We went to Florida the end of February to celebrate Clarence’s 60th birthday and see Kathy and her family. It was nice visit, but too short, as always. Here is a family photo of everyone!!!

Donna and Johnny Massey, Linda Massey with Campbell Skelton on her lap, Walker and Rob Massey, then in front is Dan Skelton, Clarence Massey with Robin and Nicholas Massey on his lap, and then Kathy Skelton

Dad and Pate weren’t there. They were in TX at a conference with my coworker and supervisor from the Energy Center. Strange.

Home now and back into routine. My thesis is due to my committee on Monday. I had hoped to have the weekend to do a lot of work on it. That plan was tragically altered as I have an amazingly AWFUL case of tonsillitis (textbook...blisters and all)! I have spent more time horizontal today than vertical. But, feeling much better after the first round of antibiotic. I hope to get a lot accomplished while the family is at church and napping. Then more work to do in the evening after dinner. I’d really like to still turn it in on Monday. I want it out of my hands!!!

Oh…apparently when it’s a little cold in the evenings in Florida (like 59 degrees) this is how they interpret it.
